I want your ideas. I'm currently using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and I can make GUI's. Well I'm a beginner and have only had classes at school. What are some good themes or ideas that you have done, which have been fun and challenging? I'm about to plan out my first template/web site after school to show what I'm learning.
What are some good web development projects for a online portfolio?
What's been fun and challenging? Teaming up with my buddy to create a highly interactive, complex gaming website. Basically you have to ask yourself what you like and where your interests lie. I myself was a part of a striving gaming community that eventually failed, so I tried to create a new one. If you're into basketball, for instance, you could then try to make a site based on that, like a bracket manager for playoff season, or something like that. Use your own creativity ;)
PS: Get in the habit of writing good code. Make sure to learn and follow the rules of XHTML and use CSS as much as possible. Try to make your websites user-friendly: take advantage of javascript and AJAX. Read up on Web 2.0--it's the future of the internet.
